In 2012, the Museum of Caricature presented the exhibition "Warsaw 1939 - 1944. Underground Satire and the Reality of Occupied Poland by Polish artists." The exhibition was very successful. It expanded our knowledge of the history of caricature and the enriched our knowledge of various methods of fighting the enemy in the occupied country. The role played by Caricaure in that struggle is not always appreciated.
The year 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of First World War. That war was completely different to World War II, however it developped similar ways of defence and propaganda, caricature being one of them.
The scenario of the exhibition was written by Dr. Peter Szlanta, Assistant Professor at the Department of History at the Warsaw University. I would like to thank him here for his passion and commitemment to this project.
Enjoy the exhibition.
