CELEBRITIES
a post-competition exhibition of the 16th Satirical Drawing Contest in Zielona Góra

The competition is organised every year by the Cultural Association "Debut" and the Provincial and Municipal Public Library in Zielona Góra. It is for the fourth time, that this post-competion exhibition is presented in the Museum of Caricature. The title of the exhibition is " Celebrities ,"  the name which today, in the times of the triumph of the tabloids, blogs, and rapid development of mass media has become quite common. It is amazing that although the term itself came to us recently, it’s already used by most of us. This term also fascinates cartoonists and satirical artists, we see the evidence displayed at the exhibition .

This year, in addition to the Poles, artists from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Canada and Israel also took part in the contest. Each of the participants interpreted in his own way the phenomenon of "celebrities " and presented it in a clear and humorous way, with the “ pinch of salt”.

At the exhibition you will be able to see approx. 100 drawings selected by the jury chaired by Zygmunt Zaradkiewicz, from all the entries. Among others there will be works by such artists as Zbigniew Wozniak (Poland), Antonio Garci (Mexico), Břetislav Kovarik (Czech Republic) , Slawomir Makal (Poland ) , Julian Bohdanowicz (Poland) , Valeriu Kurtu (Germany ) to name just a few.

This year, cartoonists from various countries, among others Belgium, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, France, Canada and Israel, took part in the contest and interpreted in their own way the subject of "celebrity".
