The Joke Pad. Zbigniew Lengren (1919-2003)
Exhbition from the series “Masters of Polish Caricature”
Exhibition of works by Zbigniew Lengren is an attempt to present several threads of his work, with particular emphasis on the humorous aspect. It primarily includes cartoons, editorial humour, satirical “photo-cartoons”, book illustrations and posters. These elements of the exhibition create its narrative, leading the viewer through a world full of humor and surprising associations.
A separate section of the exhibition is devoted to the character of Professor Filutek and his dog Filuś, created by Zbigniew Lengren. We can see previously unpublished cartoons featuring Professor Filutek and his dog. We are also able to see animated films based on those characters, made in the 50s of the last centuru in the Animation Studio in Bielsko Biała by an outstanding Polish creator of cartoons for children Wladyslaw Nehrebecki. Set design and drawings for films were of course developed by Zbigniew Lengren. We are also showing other documentary materials, including photographs and videos from the family archive of the Artist.
For the first time, visitors can see the "Book of Humour", dedicated by Lengren to his daughter Katarzyna and two grandchildren Klara and Maria. In this unique album artist introduces us to the world he knows best - the world of jokes, humorous drawings and illustrations.
The exhibition is presented in both exhibition halls in the Museum of Caricature and is accompanied by a specially prepared catalog, as well as film footage about the artist, including various testimonies.
