„Citizen Hare. Picking Holes"
My name is Hare. Citizen Hare.
One day I found a hole.
To be able to define its size I had to look at it from the distance.
I left my Little Valley and looked. The Hole was large and deep.
Since then I had been leaving my Little Valley every day examining.
Examining the Hole.
There is plenty to examine, the Hole grows bigger every day.
Grows larger and deeper. Non stop.
It is an ongoing process. You can't stop it.
I would leave it alone, but its sucking in everything around it.
Dangerously it approached the edge of the Little Valley.
It started to influence the inhabitants of the Little Valley. Including me.
There are better days and worse days. There are crazy days and absurd days.
The bad days happen more and more often. It becomes crowded...
Welcome in the Little Valley!

Exhibition presents over 60 works from the Citizen Hare series of the renowed Polish cartoonist, illustrator and painter Nika Jaworowska-Duchlińska. The series is a collection of drawings that have been created since 2015 featuring the Hare, who in fact has more human than hare characteristics. The protagonist's character is a figure of rich and complex character, engaged in events and who reacts to external stimuli interpreting in a way the reality. The whole set covers a wide range of topics ranging from political issues through environmental protection to social issues. The drawings selected for the exhibition create a story that can be divided into two parts. Narration starts with showing the various aspects of life of the Hare in the Little Valley, where he comes from. In this section are presented, among others, topics concerning family, work, study and entertainment issues. Part two shows the realitiy outside the Little Valley, where our hero has to value and comment various issues related to his findings. Using simple, black lines, reminiscent of children's drawings, Jaworowska-Duchlińska makes ironic comments, distances herself from the reality and shows a certain degree of bitterness. In the numerous images of the Hare there may be a hidden alter ego of the author herself, who, by sarcasm and sense of grotesque, masterfully maneuveres between seriousness and humor. The work comes from the artist's private collection.
