Luc Vernimmen
Luc Vernimmen was drawing comics already as a child. Studying free graphics at the Sint-Lucaspaviljoen in Antwerp was therefore an obvious choice. Later on he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. For many years he focused on etchings and aquatints. His works gradually became ‘colorful’ and evolved into oil on canvas, book illustrations, cartoons, etc. His graphic works and oil paintings can regularly be admired at numerous exhibitions. He creates books, brochures, logos and posters, but also illustrations for educational publications and books for young people. His other passion, music, runs like a continuous thread through his visual works. Since 1987 his drawings have been awarded all over the world in major cartoon contests: in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Iran, and other countries. In 2011 he was the in-house cartoonist of the European Cartoon Center Kruishoutem Belgium and had an individual exhibition there.
