GastroComics
July – August 2020
Full of taste, meeting the most sophisticated tastes, stimulating the senses - these are terms that not only match the description of many dishes, but also reflect the character of the "GastroComics" exhibition, which will be presented during the holidays in the Museum of Caricature.
The exhibition is devoted to the work of the Swiss graphic artist and caricaturist Oskar Weiss, and the works shown here are colourful, full of finesse and humour, presentations of food-related motifs. The drawings show not only the moments of eating, but also the ways of getting food or the process of cooking, and their inseparable characters are people. In the artist's works food most often has a social dimension – it serves not only to satisfy hunger, but it can also be an object of desire, an expression of love, an expression of appreciation, and finally a symbol of social status. It is also often a source of heavenly pleasure.
Those who have an appetite for a large portion of art and humour are welcome to visit our museum from 7th July. We assure you that it will be a real feast for the eye and the spirit.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Switzerland to Poland Jürg Burri has assumed honorary patronage over the exhibition.
